We are saddened to report that CA Guitars (Composite Acoustics) has closed its doors for business. The details are not known, but we do know that the good folks in Lafayaette, Louisianna made a hell of a guitar & those that own them love them. At this time we still have several guitars in stcok, which we will be selling at an extra discount. These are amazing guitars with beautiful workmanship, amazing tone & volume & nearly bulletproof. There is speculation that they might become future collectibles &, because they are so good, that just might be true.
SWINGERS: We have the only new, fully carved American made acoustic archtop in San Antonio for sale. Weber Bitterroot archtop guitar, made in Belgrade, Montana. These are wonderful guitars that aren't quite like any others out there. Meant to be acoustic guitars, this smaller 15" non-cutaway guitar is incredibly robust sounding & will cut through acoustically in a way that a flat-top simply can't. Most players have never even experienced a true acoustic archtop guitar, thinking that something like an ES-175 is the same thing. WRONG. If you think you know all about acoustic guitars & haven't played a great acoustic archtop, we invite you to expand your musical palette by testing out this great instrument. There are some nice Asian made guitars out there, quite good & well made. We've happily sold quite a few. They don't hold a candle to this Weber Bitterroot. Jazz guitar lovers take note; Weber's archtop is not like any other you're likely to have played. It also doesn't look like other archtops which tend to modeled after a few of the American classics. Small, at 15" wide but somewhat deeper than most guitars, it sits in your lap very comfortably & plays beautifully. Best of all is that it's best sounding acoustic archtop we've ever had in the shop. Those who are familiar with Guitar Tex will know that we've had some fine jazz guitars through the years. Many great players who know all about flat top acoustics and/or electric guitars have never had the pleasure of playing a fine acoustic archtop guitar. COLE CLARK GUITARS!!!!! The current Acoustic Guitar Magazine shows Jack Johnson playing one of his (he owns 8 and he paid for every one) Cole Clark Guitars. Made in Australia of all solid woods at surprisingly affordable prices. Their proprietary pickup system is also a thing of beauty, totally unlike any other you've heard. Completely unique bracing pattern, & they are carved internally rather like an archtop guitar or violin. Traditional looking on the outside, but unlike any other guitar on the inside Just arrived & they don't fail to impress. You really should come try one if you're shopping for a nice, affordable solid wood guitar. A lot of guitar for the money & I think the U.S. guitar market will take to the Cole Clark Guitars once they see & play them. Cool & distinctive looking, great sounding & playing guitars acoustically, but perhaps the most stunning feature is the Face Brace Sensor pickup system. LIVE MUSIC! I'll be playing quite a lot this month, begining with 2 dates at the Scenic Loop Cafe with my band Mark's Brothers: Saturday Feb. 7th & Friday Feb.27th.We'll also be at Casbeer's in the cafe the 28th from7-9pm. All of these dates will feature the inimitable & larger than life BB Morse on upright bass. Solo date at Grady's Barbecue Texas Star Inn on Bandera Rd. Saturday Feb. 14th from 7-9pm With Austin duo Byrd & Street Feb. 19th at Hondo's in Fredericksburg.

Custom strings from Curt Mangan. We had our favorite string maker package up some of our gauge preferences for acoustic guitar strings in phosphor bronze. Our house strings consist of 3 choices; Marfa Lights (.012-.054), Olmos Lights (hybrid "bluegrass" gauge .012-.056), & Texas Mediums (.013-.056).
