Home -- Instruments -- National ResoPhonic Guitars
Many players see a resophonic guitar & instantly think of bottleneck/slide playing which is something that they will do extremely well. Few remember Django's contemporary Oscar Aleman who was, arguably, his equal & played Gypsy jazz on a National Tricone 12 fret with fingerpicks! Personally, I use a plectrum & play mine standard mostly. The point is don't make assumptions about these; if you play one you'll likely discover that you can do any kind of music.
A lovely interpretation of the Collegian series Supro/National from the late 1930's. Thin gauge steel body. Drop on by and check her out! She's loud and lovely! List $2500.00 w/ hsc.
M-1 Mahogany Tricone.
This is a new offering from the artists a National Resophonic & a truly sublime instrument it is. Incredibly refined tonally with more sustain than other resonators & quite loud but less in-your-face than a single cone. The M-1 is also just incredible looking. I'm tempted to just gush about this incredible guitar because it is stunning at how different it is from its metal-bodied brother, yet it sounds so sweet you wonder why they haven't made a wooden body tricone before now. The current offerings from National Resophonic are simply the best resonator guitars made today & possibly of all time.
KOA CONCERT UKULELE. The best resonator ukuleles in the world are made by National & this is their top of the line wooden bodied uke. Drop dead gorgeous, but that's only the beginning. Plays perfectly & sounds better than any I've ever heard.
If you've never played a real National Resophonic or you've played import copies, you should play the real thing. There are some good imports these days, but a real National is simply the benchmark of great resonator guitars for good reason. GUITAR TEX is the only store in San Antonio & perhaps all of South Texas where you can come in & play several high quality resophonic instruments

National Triolian ca.1931. This is it, the orignal funky blues guitar with the "Patent Applied For" stamped in the headstock! Being sold as is as it needs some restoration. Primarily it necks a neck reset to make it in perfect playing condition. Beyond that, it's all cosmetic and would be at the player's discretion. Otherwise she's just right for slide! Check out our album on Photobucket at http://s1118.photobucket.com/albums/k612/guitartex/National%20Triolean%201930/ This can be yours for $1800.00
